EFQM Award for DB Schenker in Poland

Schenker Sp. z o.o. receives European Quality Award as first Polish company from the TSL sector in recognition of improvements at the four-star level Development based on the EFQM Excellence Model

(Warsaw, November 27, 2008)  DB Schenker has received as the first firm from the FTL sector in Poland an award of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) granted in recognition of four-star level improvements. The award is a clear signal for the operator’s clients and partners that it uses the best, well-tested and universally recognised practices in the area of leadership, partnership and creation of business policy and strategy. Such approach translates into the top quality of services offered by the operator.
“The EFQM certificate is an objective confirmation of the fact that our organisation represents good European level and that we are on the right track. The EFQM award should be seen as a common success of our entire organisation,” said Janusz Górski, President of the Management Board of Schenker Sp. z o.o.
The EFQM Excellence Model is an instrument that allows the employees to assess a company as a whole. One of the stages of such assessment – the EFQM self-evaluation has made it possible to precisely plan and define the necessary improvement efforts owing to careful identification of strong points as well as elements requiring improvement. The firm’s condition has also been determined owing to an external audit conducted by EFQM assessors. It should be noted that the evaluation of the firm conducted by independent assessors of the EFQM national partner organisation was concordant with self-evaluation done by DB Schenker’s employees,” stressed Arkadiusz Miłak, Head of Quality and Improvement Processes at  Schenker Sp. z o.o.
The firm’s commitment to the creation of good relations with clients and business partners, mainly with carriers and drivers, has won special appreciation of the assessors.
The EFQM Model is used by leading companies from various sectors of the economy, including Philips, BMW, Nokia and Volkswagen. Its application may be seen as a method of long-term development, which allows to create the firm’s value in a long perspective and cope with difficult market situations. An additional, significant value of the model’s application stems from the fact that it envisages broad and mutually beneficial co-operation with partners and suppliers. ”For us the EFQM award has a great business value. It is a signal for customers that we use the best practices in co-operation with them. It ensures creating their competitivnes on the market” added Janusz Górski.
