Customs facilitations for DB Schenker’s clients
Warsaw, February 2, 2010) On February 2, 2010 Schenker Sp. z o.o. was granted the full status of an Authorized Economic Operator (PL AEOF 440000100022). The certificate confirms that Schenker Sp. z o.o. is a trustworthy partner in the international exchange of commodities. “The status of an Authorized Economic Operator means an assurance of significantly faster customs servicing and high safety of shipments. Goods entrusted to us by our clients are serviced in accordance with the highest standards thanks, among other things, to our systematized internal processes,” notes Piotr Kozłowski, Ocean and Air Freight Director of Schenker Sp. z o.o. “In offering top quality services we will be able owing to the AEO certificate to manage even better than so far the customs risk in the efficient sevicing of international shipments. This is an additional package of benfits for our clients.”
The full status of an Authorized Economic Operator granted to Schenker Sp. z o.o. covers customs facilitations and safety. It permits the logistic operator as a result to avail itself of many important privileges. “The AEO certificate ensures prompter and easier access to customs facilitations. The advantages of obtaining the certificate include, among other things, a smaller number of inspections of documents and cargo,” says Teresa Bukalska, Specialist for Strategic Projects of Schenker Sp. z o.o. “If any parcels sent by our clietns are selected for inspection they will be given priority – they will be checked ahead of all other parcels. This will be beneficial for both the clients who do not have their own AEO certificate and those who do have such a certificate – their supply chain will become still safer and more efficient. Yet another privilege is the fact that we will receive notification about the selection for customs inspection of any shipments serviced by us. We will also have the right to apply for the inspection to be carried out in a different place than the customs office – a place where customs clearance can take less time or be less expensive.”
An AEO certificate is a kind of a badge identifying a safe trade partner which is recognized in all countries of the European Union.
The institution of an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) has been created in the result of changes in the Community Customs Code which sets the conditions and criteria for granting customs privileges. They relate to the proper observance of customs requirements, to financial solvency, to the proper system of managing trade registers and to the fulfilment of safety and security standards.
